Graduate Student Awarded Time on Hubble Telescope
Samantha Brunker, a Ph.D. student in the astronomy department at Indiana University, has been awarded 25 Hubble orbits for her research Escaping Ionizing Radiation in Compact Star-Forming Galaxies: Probing Higher-Mass Systems. Collaborators on this research are faculty member John Salzer and fellow students Danielle Berg and Aparna Venkatesan.

Two of the Center's Students Present Research at Conference
During the 2018-2019 academic year, sophomore students studying Human Biology Sruthi Ganapaneni and Haley Leffler completed the project titled, “Analyzing Genomic Data using High Performance Clusters” under the Faculty Mentor Thomas Doak.
The Center Co-Sponsors Girls Coding Weeks
At the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology, we understand how important it is that young girls get a head start interacting with technology. On June 10-14th, we co-sponsored the first of two Girls Coding Weeks at Ivy Tech, a week-long coding camp for middle school girls to learn about a variety of different programs through lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities.
Sara Dobbins Named Outstanding Student Leader
Congratulations to our Social Media Coordinator, Sara Dobbins, on receiving CEW&T’s Outstanding Student Leadership Award announced at the 2019 CEW&T Summit! This annual award honors a student who has had a significant and positive influence on IU students, exemplifies leadership skills, encourages peers and students, and serves as a staunch advocate for women in technology.
2019 Women’s Research Poster Competition Winners
On April 12, 2019, CEW&T hosted its 6th annual Women’s Research Poster Competition. Participants had the opportunity to present a poster about their research, receive feedback from judges, network with other women researchers, and compete for prizes.

Dr. Gamze Ozogul, Assistant Professor in the Instructional Systems Technology Department within the School of Education, received the Outstanding Faculty Mentor/Advocate award at the 6th annual CEW&T Summit on March 1.

Two incredible members of IU’s Staff won the Outstanding Staff Mentor-Advocate Award at this year’s annual CEW&T Summit. This award is reserved for IU staff members who have been recognized as a diligent and supportive mentor or advocate for women and technology by their peers.
