Lillie Berry

(birth and death dates unknown)

Campus:
IU

After completing her coursework in the 1960s, she became the first African American Woman to teach introductory material on Signals Analysis. Then, in 1968, Berry became the first African American woman agency recruiter. Her legacy was founding the NSA Career Information Center, which is still in use today.

Berry retired in 1988. Unfortunately, there is very little recorded information available about Berry's life or work with the NSA. Nevertheless, her significant career in cryptography stands as a testament to the many contributions of African American women who have contributed substantially to the study of decrypting crucial information.
