Project Description
The study accesses the sense of presence (i.e., being there), emotions (e.g., joyful, happy, etc.), and design evaluations (e.g., lighting, size) when participants experience a virtual (interior) environment. Research measurements include two online Qualtrics questionnaires (pre-and post-test) together with the think-aloud protocol (i.e., voicing one's thoughts in real time) and virtual movements recorded inside a virtual reality (VR) headset.
Technology or Computational Component
Participants will experience a virtual (interior) environment on a Meta Quest 3 headset. The study records views and voices of participants directly via the headset. Such records will be analyzed via an open-source location-based software that helps trace the movements of participants onto the layout of the environment. Questionnaire responses will be analyzed and visualized using R-Studio. Student involvement includes walking the participants through the basics of using the headset, instructing participants to navigate in the virtual environment, executing the recording function, and participating in data analysis (steps to use the open-source software and R Studio codes will be provided).
