Project Description
We are working on automatic methods for identifying conspiracy theory content on social media, and the characteristics of the language used to talk about conspiracy theories. The students will be integrated into a research group with one more advanced undergraduate student and two graduate students and will be involved in all steps of the research process, from discussing how to approach a specific question, to collecting and annotating data and developing, running, and evaluating computational models.
Technology or Computational Component
We are developing machine learning models to detect conspiracy theory content. Depending on the students' interests and skills, they will learn how to develop machine learning models, run experiments, and evaluate the results.
