Project Description
Music complexity is associated with popularity and genre. Thus, computational music complexity metrics can help build a better music recommendation system. However, research on computational music complexity metrics has focused on audio complexity, while lyrics are an essential part of popular music. To fill this gap, this project will investigate various lyric complexity metrics. To comprehensively understand lyric complexity, our team will conduct user studies and data analysis. We will collect user data about lyric text complexity for the user studies. Also, we will explore various text complexity metrics and readability metrics.
