Sustainability & Tech Lead Intern

Job Summary

In a drive to contribute to global climate action and justice, the Sustainability & Tech team is dedicated to creating space for exploring how technology and innovation can help us use environmental and social resources efficiently and equitably. The Sustainability & Tech Alliance Team focuses on three key pillars:

  1. Sustainability & Tech Conversations: Industry experts’ experience sharing
  2. Sustainability & Tech Skills: Technology skills and confidence building
  3. Sustainability & Tech Collective: Community building to learn and grow together

Responsibilities:

  • The lead intern, with the support of a faculty champion, will launch, build, and grow an engaged learning community of undergraduate and graduate women students focused primarily on the shared interest of sustainability & technology.
  • Create a strategic plan for the year and include mission, goals, marketing, implementation plan and desired outcomes.
  • Schedule events, workshops, speakers, and other activities for the IU community to further common interests.
  • Supervise two interns who will assist in the development of this community, once team has been established.
  • Provide timely reports regarding marketing plans, attendance, and assessment information following various programs.
  • Take initiative to incorporate personal passions to provide a live example of what it means to be a woman in technology to both our community and our members.
  • Commit to exploring and learning about artificial intelligence and underrepresented groups in the field to be a good advocate and teacher.
  • Submit weekly progress reports to Center staff and team champion (once identified).

All student employees are required to:

  • Attend weekly meetings with interns and team champion.
  • Attend weekly lead intern meetings (Fridays from 3:00-4:30pm).
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for March 7-8, 2025.
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on Dec. 6, 2024, from 4:30-6:30pm and Apr. 27, 2025, from 5:30-7:30pm.

Desired Qualifications

Prior leadership experience. Strong communication and project management skills. Knowledgeable and committed to learning about sustainability and its impact with tech. Passionate about sharing enthusiasm for environmentally sustainable applications of technology.

Schedule and Pay

Work Schedule

 8-10 hours per week.
