Sustainability & Tech Intern

Job Summary

In a drive to contribute to global climate action and justice, the Sustainability & Tech team is dedicated to creating space for exploring how technology and innovation can help us use natural, environmental, human, and social resources efficiently and equitably. The Sustainability & Tech team focuses on three key pillars:

1. Sustainability & Tech Conversations: Industry experts’ experience sharing

2. Sustainability & Tech Skills: Technology skills and confidence building

3. Sustainability & Tech Collective: Community building to learn and grow together

Responsibilities:

  • Work with and assist the lead intern and fellow interns, to launch, build, and grow an engaged learning community of undergraduate and graduate women students interested in sustainability and technology.
  • Assist in creating a strategic plan for the year and include mission, goals, marketing, implementation plan, and desired outcomes.
  • Schedule events, workshops, speakers, partnerships, and other activities for the IU community to further shared passion and interests.
  • Help provide timely reports regarding marketing plans, attendance, and assessment information following various programs.
  • Commit to the Center’s overall mission and the team goals to develop a meaningful community.
  • Take the initiative to incorporate personal passions to provide a live example of what it means to be a woman in technology to both our community and our members.
  • Commit to exploring and learning about sustainability and environmental justice to be a good advocate and leader.
  • Submit weekly progress reports to the lead Intern.

All student employees are required to:

  • Attend weekly meetings with lead intern and staff champion.
  • Attend mandatory Leadership Training on August 23-24, 2024.
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for March 7-8, 2025.
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on Dec. 6, 2024 from 4:30-6:30p and Apr. 27, 2025 from 5:30-7:30p.

Desired Qualifications

The intern is a creative and collaborative team member who is a self-starter with project management and communications skills. Passionate about exploring and sharing enthusiasm for sustainability and technology through creating an engaging shared passion community.

Schedule and Pay

Work Schedule

 3-5 hours per week.
