Communications & Event Planning Intern for IU Women in IT (IUWIT)

Job Summary

The IU Center of Excellence for Women & Technology partners with IU Women in Technology (IUWIT), a group for professional staff working in IT at all IU campuses, to provide support and programming for staff.

IUWIT is seeking an intern to manange its communications, develop marketing materials, and coordinate/organize events.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the leadership team to develop a monthly eNewsletter for professional IT staff at all IU campuses.
  • Conduct interviews with staff to be featured in the eNewsletter each month.
  • Create accessible content and post it to IUWIT's social media accounts.
  • Develop marketing materials, such as flyers and brochures to promote events.
  • Assist the IUWIT liaison in coordinating, organizing, and staffing events.
  • Make editing suggestions and recommendations for content on IUWIT's website.

All student employees are required to:

  • Attend weekly meetings with your team. Reasonable availability is required.
  • Complete the Leadership Training and Development Course on Canvas. You will be given access to this course once you are on payroll.
  • Attend the 2026 Leadership Training on August 28th from 6-8pm and August 29th from 9am-4pm.
  • Attend the Women’s Networking Reception with Employers on September 16th, 2026 from 6-8:30pm.
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for March 5th and 6th, 2027.
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on December 4th, 2026 from 4:30-6:30pm and April 25th, 2027 from 5:30-7:30pm.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to work remotely with little supervision 
  • Detail-oriented and reliable 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Knowledgeable about the use of social media 
  • Interest in event planning and web design, a plus 

Schedule and Pay

Work Schedule

An average of 5 hours per week.
