IUBWR Lead intern

Job Summary

The mission of the IU Center of Excellence for Women & Technology is to inspire, encourage, and educate IU women to develop tech skills, which gives them an edge in whatever field, discipline, or career they choose. IUB Women Rising’s missions are (1) to build awareness and knowledge regarding the gender equity pay gap and (2) to educate students about how they can advocate for themselves in professional environments to combat workplace inequity. IUBWR aims to provide leadership, volunteer, and educational opportunities for students to apply in real-world career development and planning.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and engage IU students and groups across campus for outreach events that build awareness of career-related gender equity issues.
• Create a strategic plan for the year and include mission, goals, marketing, implementation plan, and desired outcomes.
• Research, develop, and present TENTalk presentations on gender wage gap and other gender equity topics.
• Supervise interns who will assist in the development of this content and community.
• Market TENTalks and build a schedule to present to classes, organizations, and events on the gender wage gap.
• Staff events to raise awareness of both the Center and IUBWR and to drive member affiliation:
  • Broaden Center and IUBWR exposure to students and to the campus.
  • Plan and host Equal Pay Days.
  • Assist with campus tabling events and classroom visits.
  • Keep up to date on Center programs, events, and initiatives in order to inform the public.
• Assist trained AAUW SmartStart workshop facilitators during workshops.
• Provide timely reports regarding marketing plans, attendance, and assessment information following outreach events.
• Serve as a role model to affiliates and advocate for women and underrepresented groups.
• Submit weekly progress reports to the senior associate director.

All student employees are required to:

• Attend weekly meetings with your team and Champion (reasonable availability is required) as well as all Lead Intern meetings (Fridays from 3:00-4:30pm).
• Complete the Leadership Training and Development Course on Canvas. You will be given access to this course once you are on payroll.
• Attend the 2026 Leadership Training on August 28^th from 6-8pm and August 29^th from 9am-4pm.
• Attend the Women’s Networking Reception with Employers on September 16^th, 2026 from 6-8:30pm.
• Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for March 5^th and 6^th, 2027.
• Attend Intern Celebrations on December 4^th, 2026 from 4:30-6:30pm and April 25^th, 2027 from 5:30-7:30pm.
