Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement at the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology reports to the Assistant Director and works closely with the Center’s staff, student alliance teams, interns, as well as faculty and campus partners in this highly collaborative, mission driven team. The GA provides general coordination, administrative, and on-site support for the Center’s student programming, serves as an assistant instructor for the Emerging Scholars Research Experience for Undergraduate Women, as well as co-manages the research hackathon and campus-side research poster competition. The primary focus of this role is to develop means to elevate student engagement with the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Help provide program coordination for Student Leadership Training, Summit Annual Conference, Emerging Scholars Research Experience for Undergraduate Women, Research Hackathon, and the Research Poster Competition.
  • Assist in the coordination of the 14 Student Alliance Teams including leadership development, training, advising, selection, appraisals, team building, and engagement.
  • Provide guidance to interns on developing community, marketing events, assist with evaluation and data collection.
  • Serve as assistant instructor for research methodology course including grading bi-weekly reports, writing bi-weekly summary reports, fostering a sense of community, and developing and leading team building activities.
  • Research, create, and develop fun, hands-on technology-based educational programs and workshops designed to engage students.
  • Track the Alliance Team’s event requirements, as well as the engagement of all interns and Emerging Scholars.
  • Collaborate with the Outreach Alliance team to organize team-building and engagement activities each semester.
  • Attend weekly lead intern meetings in the fall semester, and bi-weekly meetings in the spring semester (Fridays from 3-4:30pm).
  • Attend Leadership Training on August 22-23, 2025.
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for March 6-7, 2026.
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on 12/5/25 from 4:30-6:30p and 4/26/26 from 5:30-7:30p.

Qualifications

  • You must be a graduate student (master’s, PhD, or professional program) to apply.
  • Experience with student leadership and development.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
  • Ability to plan and execute programs with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with or understanding of advocacy related to gender equity, intersectionality, and allyship.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and assessing educational experiences desired.
  • Experience with undergraduate research programs desired.
  • Event planning experience preferred.

Compensation

  • Two-year (10 month/yr) appointment 
  • Average 20 hours/week 
  • Appointment dates: August 2025-May 2027 
  • $24,000 stipend 
  • Fee Remission for up to 12 credit hours/Fall and Spring semester and 6 credit hours/summer
