Job Summary

The Extended Reality (XR) Student Alliance Team is seeking enthusiastic interns to join our innovative initiative. As an XR Intern, you will be part of a team dedicated to exploring and promoting XR technologies across the IU community. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the emerging field of XR, including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR).  Join us in shaping the future of XR at IU and gain valuable experience in this cutting-edge field!.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the XR Lead Intern in growing an engaged learning community of undergraduate and graduate students interested in XR technologies.
  • Collaborate with the team to curate and execute workshops, events, and activities that showcase XR technologies and their applications.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of the team's strategic plan, including mission, goals, marketing, and desired outcomes.
  • Help organize and facilitate XR-related events, workshops, and speaker sessions for the IU community.
  • Assist in creating timely reports on marketing efforts, event attendance, and program assessments.
  • Actively participate in researching and learning about XR technologies and their applications across various disciplines at IU.
  • Commit to the overall mission of the Center and to the goals of the team to develop a meaningful community.
  • Support the team's efforts to advocate for underrepresented groups in the XR field.
  • Contribute to the team's social media presence and community outreach efforts.
  • Submit weekly progress reports to the Lead Intern.

All student employees are required to:

  • Attend weekly meeting with lead intern and staff champion.
  • Attend mandatory Leadership Training on August 22-23, 2025.
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for 3/6 and 3/7, 2026.
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on 12/5/25 from 4:30-6:30p and 4/26/26 from 5:30-7:30p.

Qualifications

  • Must be a current IU Bloomington student.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in XR technologies (VR, AR, MR, 3D visualization).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic project management abilities.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and sharing knowledge about emerging technologies.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in technology fields.

Schedule and Pay

Work Schedule

3-5 hours per week.
