Job Summary

The Ethical AI Student Alliance Team is dedicated to empowering women to confidently implement and ethically engage with artificial intelligence technology in an environment that fosters creativity and teamwork across fields of practice or study. Even further, the Ethical AI team works to create a representative, safe, and equitable space to explore and analyze the ethical elements of AI. This community of students strive together to learn and teach artificial intelligence, educate about the trends, work through obstacles in skill development and learning workshops, offer peer-to-peer places of discussion, and provide networking events to synergize connections of our diverse community of AI.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with and assist the lead intern and fellow interns, to launch, build, and grow an engaged learning community of undergraduate and graduate women students interested in artificial intelligence.
  • Assist in the creation of a strategic plan for the year and include mission, goals, marketing, implementation plan, and desired outcomes.
  • Schedule events, workshops, speakers, and other activities for the IU community to further common interests.
  • Help provide timely reports regarding marketing plans, attendance, assessment information following various programs.
  • Commit to the overall mission of the Center and to the goals of the team to develop a meaningful community.
  • Take initiative to incorporate personal passions to provide a live example of what it means to be a woman in technology to both our community and our members.
  • Commit to exploring and learning about artificial intelligence and underrepresented groups in the field to be a good advocate and teacher.
  • Submit weekly progress reports to lead Intern.

All student employees are required to:

  • Attend weekly meetings with lead intern and, if possible, faculty champion.
  • Attend mandatory Leadership Training on August 23-24, 2024.
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for 3/7 and 3/8, 2025.
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on 12/6/24 from 4:30-6:30p and 4/27/25 from 5:30-7:30p.

Qualifications

General

  • Must be a current IU Bloomington student (undergraduate,graduate, and Ph.D.)
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Passionate about sharing enthusiasm for technology.
  • Interested in developing a brand-new team.
  • Some knowledge and strong interest in artificial intelligence.
  • Strong interest in coding.
  • Strong interest or some knowledge about the use of social media.

Schedule and Pay

Work Schedule

An average of 3-5 hours per week.
