Job Summary

The Black Women & Technology Team is dedicated to promoting and empowering success and persistence among Black women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) at Indiana University. Events sponsored by this team are responsive to the needs and interests of both undergraduate and graduate community women and where possible will include a technology component as a catalyst to excellence in personal, academic, or career life.

Role for Lead Intern position:

  • The lead intern, with the support of a faculty champion, will launch, build, and grow an engaged learning community of undergraduate and graduate Black women students
  • Create a strategic plan and include goals, marketing, implementation plan and desired outcomes.
  • Schedule events, workshops, speakers, and other activities.
  • Supervise 2 interns who are charged with assisting in the development of this community.
  • Commit to the Center mission and to the goals of the team to develop a meaningful community.
  • Provide timely reports regarding marketing plans, attendance, assessment information following various programs.
  • Serve as a role model to interns and members.
  • Be an advocate for women and underrepresented groups.
  • Submit weekly progress reports to faculty champion.

All student employees are required to:

  • Lead weekly meeting with interns.
  • Attend weekly meetings with lead intern and faculty champion.
  • Attend all bi-monthly Lead Intern meetings.
  • Attend mandatory Leadership Training on August 23-24, 2024.
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for 3/7 and 3/8, 2025.
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on 12/6/24 from 4:30-6:30p and 4/27/25 from 5:30-7:30p.

Desired Qualifications

Prior leadership experience. Strong communication skills. Motivation to help create a vibrant community. Knowledgeable about the use of social media. Enthusiasm for technology.

Schedule and Pay

Work Schedule

An average of 8-10 hours per week.
