Job Summary
The Podcast Production Intern for the Women of IU podcast reports to the Center’s Marketing Manager and Assistant Director and works closely with the Center’s staff, social media team, and other interns to create a podcast that highlights women in various fields at IU.
The Women of IU podcast is hosted by the Center of Excellence for Women & Technology and aims to share the stories and experiences of women on IU campuses who are making strides in areas like science, engineering, math, media studies, coding, art and design, and more. This podcast is a way to highlight the important work women do every day at IU.
The Women of IU podcast serves numerous functions:
- Shares the work the Center does with the rest of the IU community and, in fact, serves as a general marketing tool for the Center. This will enhance the Center’s visibility across campus and in the community.
- Serves as an outlet for our Student Alliance Teams to dive deeper into their topics and get to know women on campus who study, teach, and explore the topics and ideas the Alliance Team focuses on.
- Allows the Center to get out of the Center house and meet and converse with people all over campus and connect about issues that matter to IU women.
- Teaches tech, media, and interpersonal skills to Alliance Team members by requiring them to think about sound recording, audio editing, interviewing techniques, and crafting a narrative. This new skill will add to their tech skills experience when looking for jobs and/or furthering their education.
- Offers another outlet for Student Alliance Teams to engage with Center content outside of events. Decreasing the Center’s number of weekly events a bit will enhance the engagement and attendance at the ones we do hold.
- Aids in marketing events and Center initiatives by including this information at the beginning or end of each episode.
