IUB Women Rising (IUBWR) Intern

Job Summary

The mission of the IU (Indiana University) Center of Excellence for Women & Technology is to inspire, encourage, and educate IU women to develop tech skills, which gives them an edge in whatever field, discipline, or career they choose. IUBWR promotes leadership and career development for women by serving IUB students with education and practical tools to close the gender equity gap through innovative outreach and advocacy programming. The goals of IUBWR are to build awareness, knowledge and understanding of equity gap issues; increase leadership opportunities & advocacy skills for women; and encourage early career development and planning with this knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and engage IU students and groups across campus for outreach events that build awareness of career related gender equity issues.
  • Assist in the creation of a strategic plan for the year and include mission, goals, marketing, implementation plan, and desired outcomes.
  • Research, develop, and present TENTalk presentations on gender wage gap and other gender equity topics.
  • Market TENTalks and build a schedule to present to classes, organizations, and events on the gender wage gap.
  • Staff events to raise awareness of both the Center and IUBWR and to drive member affiliation:
    • Broaden Center and IUBWR exposure to students and to the campus
    • Plan and host events centered around pay equity education
    • Assist with campus tabling events and classroom visits
    • Keep up to date on Center programs, events, and initiatives to inform the public
  • Help provide timely reports regarding marketing plans, attendance, assessment information following outreach events.
  • Serve as a role model to affiliates and advocate for women and underrepresented groups.

All student employees are required to:

  • Attend regular meetings with IUBWR team
  • Attend mandatory Leadership Training on August 23-24, 2024
  • Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for 3/7 and 3/8, 2025
  • Attend Intern Celebrations on 12/6/24 from 4:30-6:30p and 4/27/25 from 5:30-7:30p

  • Public speaking experience and strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal and presentation skills
  • An ideal candidate is energetic, organized, motivated, and actively involved on campus

Schedule and Pay

Work Schedule

An average of 3-5 hours per week.
