Job Summary
The Ethical AI Team is dedicated to empowering women to confidently implement ethical artificial intelligence technology in an environment that fosters creativity and teamwork regardless of field of practice or study. Even further, the Ethical AI team works to create a safe space to explore and incorporate the ethical elements of AI in order to build systems that are representative and safe. This community of students strive together to learn and teach artificial intelligence, educate about the trends, work through obstacles in skill development and learning workshops, offer peer-to-peer places of discussion, and create events to link opportunities of AI to the diverse backgrounds of our peers.
Responsibilities:
- The lead intern, with the support of a faculty champion, will launch, build, and grow an engaged learning community of undergraduate and graduate women students focused primarily on the shared interest of ethical applications of artificial intelligence (AI).
- Create a strategic plan for the year and include mission, goals, marketing, implementation plan, and desired outcomes.
- Schedule events, workshops, speakers, and other activities for the IU community to further common interests.
- Supervise two interns who will assist in the development of this community.
- Provide timely reports regarding marketing plans, attendance, and assessment information following various programs.
- Take initiative to incorporate personal passions to provide a live example of what it means to be a woman in technology to both our community and our members.
- Commit to exploring and learning about artificial intelligence and underrepresented groups in the field to be a good advocate and teacher.
- Submit weekly progress reports to faculty champion.
All student employees are required to:
- Host weekly meetings with lead champion and interns.
- Attend bi-monthly all Lead Intern Meetings.
- Attend mandatory Leadership Training on August 22-23, 2025.
- Attend and present at our annual Summit, scheduled for 3/6 and 3/7, 2026.
- Attend Intern Celebrations on 12/5/25 from 4:30-6:30p and 4/26/26 from 5:30-7:30p.
