Job Summary
The Data Manager is responsible for collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data related to our programs, events, and affiliates. Primary responsibilities include managing event and survey data, curating mailing lists, and maintaining databases across various systems to ensure consistent and accurate data collection across units. The Data Manager works closely with the staff and interns to deliver insights about the impact of training programs and initiatives. Since the Data Manager submits data access requests, they must maintain appropriate IU compliance training and data use permissions.
The Data Manager will lead, supervise, and train a team of 1-2 student interns.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct analyses on events, training programs, and survey response data
- Create and present quarterly reports on event and program data using visuals that are easy to understand
- Design, test, and distribute surveys in Qualtrics and Fireform
- Maintain databases in Sharepoint, Qualtrics, IU Salesforce Marketing Cloud, IU CRM, and Microsoft Excel to ensure consistent data collection across units
- Manage and curate mailing lists for communications and outreach
- Document work in detail (data sources, reporting criteria, tools used, etc.)
- Implement improvements to standard operating procedures regarding data use
- Lead weekly meetings with a team of 1–2 data interns, communicating goals, and creating a supportive work environment
- Attend our annual Summit, scheduled for 2/27 and 2/28, 2026
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Preferred Skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel effectively utilizing formulas, pivot tables, and record matching techniques
- Must be able to manipulate, validate, and analyze large data sets
- Strong data visualization and reporting skills (Excel, Power BI, dashboards, or other tools)
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word and SharePoint; familiarity with Airtable and FireForm
- Adept at learning new software applications such as Qualtrics, IU Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and IU CRM
- Detail-oriented with strong quality assurance and documentation practices
- Able to work and problem solve independently
