Laptops are encouraged but not required for this session.

Haley Hatfield

Haley is the lead intern for Media Makers. She is a second-year MA student at the Media School. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kansas State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Louisiana State University with concentrations in digital art. Her research focuses on developing immersive virtual reality environments based on real events to evoke empathy and expose viewers to the everyday life of marginalized people in America. Her VR documentary work has been shown in many art galleries around the U.S. While at IU, Haley hopes to expand her research using social science methods to develop virtual environments that will reduce racial bias, stereotypes and discrimination.

Jaleesa Elliott

Jaleesa is an intern for Media Makers. She is a junior in The Media School studying journalism with a concentration in news writing and reporting and a specialization in graphic communication and news writing. Outside of her coursework, she is involved with the Indiana Daily Student and SEASON magazine.

Alexia Barraza

Alexia Barraza is an Intern on the Media Makers team. She is a senior pursuing a B.A. in Media Advertising, with a double major in Spanish and a Minor in Sociology. She works for the Indiana Daily Student marketing team and is involved with Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and IU’s Feminist Student Association. She is interested in LGBTQ+ and women’s advocacy. She hopes to use her position as Media Makers intern to further develop her skills in graphic design
