Almost everyone is familiar with the 1939 movie, "The Wizard of Oz" and many lessons can be taken from this children's story. This session offers attendees insight into how to acquire Sponsorship in the work setting and how to make the Sponsor/Protégé relationship mutually successful.





Debra Luffer-Atlas, PhD

Debra Luffer-Atlas, PhD, is a Senior Research Fellow of Drug Disposition and Toxicology at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, IN. Debra grew up in Montreal and received her B.Sc. in Chemistry from McGill University in 1985 and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from IU in 1990 (Novotny group). She did a 2-year postdoc at University of Arizona then began her career at Merck in 1992. She joined Lilly in 1997 and has served on many drug discovery and development teams. She is particularly proud to be associated with the recent FDA approval of a novel migraine therapy (REYVOW). Debra is author or co-author of over 35 peer reviewed publications. In 2007 she was awarded the Lilly Quality Pinnacle Award and in 2014 she received the LRL President’s Award for Diversity for her dedication to mentorship and female talent development. In March 2019 she became Novel Target Leader for an Alzheimer’s Disease program.
