Empowerment Through Innovation: Recapping the Annual Women & Technology Summit

Thursday, March 26, 2026

From February 27–28, hundreds of attendees gathered for the annual Women & Technology Summit, a premier event dedicated to the Center’s mission of advancing and empowering women and the IU community in technology through tech skill-building and leadership development. Bringing together over 500 in-person and virtual attendees, the Summit offered specialized programming for students, faculty, staff, and community members, reinforcing a commitment to making technology leadership a reality for a broad spectrum of innovators.

The Summit atmosphere was defined by a shared dedication to professional growth and personal empowerment. A distinguished lineup of featured speakers addressed the multifaceted nature of modern careers. Keynote speaker Deshauna Barber shared a powerful message on the power of perseverance and belief in one’s goals. Plenary speaker Claudia Ramly provided practical insights into the "power of the pivot" in professional journeys, while featured faculty speaker Dr. Angie Raymond led a critical discussion on AI in society, exploring the ethical frontiers of emerging technology.

Beyond the featured speakers, the Summit offered a robust curriculum of over 40 sessions focused on tech skill-building, leadership and career development, and empowerment. Programming highlights included ethical usage and implementation of AI, using emerging tech as a tool for career development, and a specific track designed for faculty development.

The Summit served as a high-energy networking and resource hub. In the Exhibiting Area, attendees connected with influential organizations and corporate supporters, including Accenture, Cornerstone Information Systems, and Grainger, alongside university partners like IUWIT and Luddy Online. To enhance the attendee experience, the event provided amenities including professional headshots, catered meals, and a special highlight of the Women of IU Portrait Collection, which honors the impactful work of women trailblazers at IU. The community's spirit of service was further reflected through a successful donation drive for local non-profit Exodus Refugee.

By providing these diverse touchpoints, the Summit successfully fulfilled the Center’s mission to inspire, connect, and empower attendees through technology. Participants left equipped with the tools and confidence to excel in technology and their professional lives.

The Summit was made possible by the tireless efforts of the Center staff, practicum students, and more than 50 student interns. These interns took on significant leadership roles, including moderating sessions alongside featured speakers and working behind the scenes to ensure a seamless experience.

As we celebrate the connections made and the skills gained, we invite you to continue this journey with us. Please save the date for our next Women & Technology Summit, scheduled for March 5 and 6, 2027.
